a village shaped by its residents
At 't Eemgoed, community is not a by-product but a starting point. Future residents were involved from the initiative phase onwards, helping to determine the floor plans, the atmosphere, the landscape, the vegetable gardens and the energy supply. As a result, layouts vary within the same longhouses. The land is owned collectively by all residents, while the homes are individually owned. In the Eemhuis they gather for meetings, for work and to spend time together. It is this combination of participation and shared ownership that makes the village what it is.
