In his projects, Koen focuses on strong collaboration with all stakeholders involved — from clients and consultants to end users — ensuring that projects not only work on paper, but also in practice. This collaboration is particularly crucial in the larger, more complex projects he works on, such as the new police headquarters in The Hague, the Bravis Hospital in Roosendaal, and the new construction for Erasmus MC. “I really enjoy making the often conflicting starting points within a project transparent and bringing them together in the design in close collaboration with the users.”
For the Bravis and Erasmus MC hospitals, cepezed collaborates with Vakwerk architecten as Team aan de Schie – a genuine enrichment, according to Koen. “Such partnerships create fascinating cross-pollination, leading to entirely new insights.”
According to Koen, trust and enjoyment form the foundation of successful collaboration. Whether through an intensive working session or a road cycling tour through the landscape with the design team, Koen is always keen to take part.
Internally, he also contributes to the development of colleagues. As a member of the cepezedacademy team, specialising in architectural quality, he helps to inspire and coach staff. In this way, cepezed invests in knowledge-sharing and growth, giving colleagues the opportunity to continue developing within the profession.
