After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle, Bart went on to study a pre-master’s in Architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology, followed by a Master’s degree in Architecture, Building & Planning. For his graduation project, he designed a small-scale, flexible emergency hospital that could remain operational during crises such as periods of peak demand and pandemics. The concept was developed with the long-term resilience of hospitals in mind and bears strong similarities to the kit-of-parts design methodology. In 2024, this design earned Bart first prize in the StudentenSTAALprijs.
At cepezed, Bart recognises a design approach that closely aligns with his own vision: logical, lightweight and high-quality buildings that can adapt to future changes while retaining a timeless appearance.
At cepezed, Bart has worked on projects including QuTech, the research institute at TU Delft Campus, where research is conducted into quantum computing and the quantum internet. The building places high technical demands on the design, particularly in terms of vibrations and magnetic fields, while also needing to provide researchers with a pleasant and functional working environment. Bart is particularly proud of winning the tenders for the renovation of the Horst complex at the University of Twente and the new institute building in Greifswald.
