Future-proof redevelopment Dulon College

Future-proof redevelopment Dulon College
The building complex and the surroundings of Dulon College in Ede are being redeveloped in a future-proof manner. Instead of complete demolition, the existing shell will be reused. This fits better with the sustainability ambitions of the client and cepezed. The modernization results in a more compact, lighter and educationally stimulating environment. A side building will be removed, which creates more space for a large green forecourt on which local residents can look out. This afternoon, the start of the work will be celebrated with a ‘new building festival’.

low-incentive and safe environment

The main building currently has three side wings, between which dozens of cars are parked. Those parking spaces will make way for extra teaching spaces, a spacious atrium with plenty of daylight and a green garden inside the building. The wings will be connected at the ends, creating new logical walking routes and unifying the school building. The design also considers a group of vulnerable students, who need a low-stimulation and safe environment.

sustainable investments in building and people

Dulon College will become a nearly energy-neutral building (BENG) after the transformation is finished. This is due to a completely new high-insulating facade, some 1,900 m² of solar panels on the roof, a CHP system, underfloor heating and sprinkler ventilation. The aim is also to achieve the 'Fresh Schools Class B' label for a healthy indoor climate. So there will not only be sustainable investment in the building, but also in the well-being of the people working here and the students working on their future.

food trucks

With food trucks and music, staff, pupils and local residents will celebrate today the start of the renovation. During the renovation of the main building, pupils and staff will temporarily move to the annex building, which will eventually be removed. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2023/early 2024. For the Christelijke Onderwijs Groep, of which Dulon College is part, cepezed also designed the new Technova College.
