During the Rotterdam Marathon, thousands of runners streamed past Laan op Zuid, where the new education location for Hogeschool Rotterdam and Stichting BOOR is under construction. The building stands right on the route. To us, that is exactly the point: architecture that becomes part of the city.
open to the city
The education location houses two schools, one for secondary and one for higher education, and does not close itself off from its surroundings. The transparent facade is key to this: it connects the life inside with the street and makes the building part of daily life on Laan op Zuid, even though it rises to nine storeys at its highest point.

A green route alongside the building links Laan op Zuid with Rijnhaven metro station and anticipates the future Rijnhavenpark. The education location is due for completion at the end of this year.
The education location is a cepezed design for Hogeschool Rotterdam, Stichting BOOR and the City of Rotterdam, built by Heerkens van Bavel Bouw.
