cepezed designs accelerator

Nieuws 2019 04 12 the accelerator

cepezed designs Accelerator, a new and sustainable multi-tenant building for various Life Sciences companies. The main users will be Genmab and Merus, both listed firms that focus on the development of innovative therapies against cancer. Other tenants will be Life Sciences businesses that want to accelerate their development from start-up to scale-up.

The building will be located on a prominent location along the access road to the Utrecht Science Park (USP), one of the top science parks in The Netherlands and globally leading in the field of Life Sciences and Health. Earlier, cepezed also realized research buildings for Danone and Genmab at the park. The Genmab building, which was officially opened only last summer, will be directly connected to Accelerator through a footbridge.

The over 22.000 m2 Accelerator building will make an important contribution to further cooperation and connection at the USP. It will include office, laboratory and parking functions, but also an auditorium for 250 people, ‘meet & greet’ facilities and a series of general facilities such as a meeting center and extensive restaurant in the transparent plinth.

Regarding sustainability, Accelerator is aimed at a BREEAM-NL Excellent certification. The design is very flexible and a lot of attention is paid to a pleasant, healthy working environment, which is achieved by, among other things, a high degree of daylight entry and lots of greenery in the atrium of the building.

Accelerator is a development by Kadans Science Partner, expert in housing the knowledge-intensive sector in and around science parks and university campuses. Deerns is the MEP-consultant and BAM Construction and Technology will take care of the realization. Construction will start at the end of this year and the completion is planned for the beginning of 2022.
