construction update cambreur college

Nieuws exterieur cambreur college cepezed

The construction of the new Cambreur College in Dongen is progressing steadily! The southern building has now been erected and its façade has already been clad in Corten steel, which has a lively appearance and will turn rust brown under the influence of rain, sun and wind.

prefabricated

The realization is fully organized with an eye on rapid progress and minimal inconvenience; on the one hand for the surrounding residential area and on the other hand for the existing school building next to the construction site, which will be demolished after the construction of the new building and subsequently replaced by a large schoolyard. The hybrid main supporting structure has a shallow foundation and consists entirely of prefabricated elements of concrete and steel; the columns, floors and parapets are delivered ready-made and just in time. Thus, the assembly proceeds quickly and with no more material on the construction site than necessary.

The south wing of the new building is closest to the current school building. The contractor started with this part, so that the work on this will largely take place during the school holidays. The north wing is further away from the existing building. During realization of this part, the lessons in the existing building can proceed unhindered. Finally, the auditorium and gymnasiums will be realized in the last phase; both have a main supporting structure of steel.

sustainable design

The renewed Cambreur College will be a sustainable school that meets the standards for both Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (BENG) and Fresh Schools (generally class B, partly class A and C). The latter means, among other things, that there is a lot of daylight and good ventilation for an optimal learning environment. As mentioned, the main supporting construction is prefabricated and can be flexibly divided. The facade is highly insulating. The installations for cooling and heating are energy efficient, including a heat pump for the central heating. The building will make use of LED lighting and will hold solar panels on the roof.

The commissioning of the new Cambreur College is planned for the school year after the summer of 2021.
