MECC Maastricht

High added value for Maastricht 

The MECC organizes more than 200 national and international trade fairs, conferences and events a year; among others, art fair TEFAF Maastricht, Jumping Indoor Maastricht and InterClassics Maastricht take place here.

The complex provides significant economic added value to Maastricht and the region. Functionality, efficiency, good logistics and sustainability are leading themes in the modernization and expansion of the complex.

Major expansions 

The modernization concerns the extension and renovation of the conference center with its two auditoriums and the revitalization of the entrance zone and Forum passage. The parking lots have already been upgraded. The new Brightlands Meeting Point around the existing auditoriums creates a strong connection with the adjacent Maastricht Health Campus and significantly increases the capacity of the MECC.

Where the conference section of the complex can now receive a maximum of 3,000 people simultaneously, this will be 5,000 after renovation in 2021.

Assignment and implementation 

The design of MECC is being realized as part of a total engineering assignment. The design team consists of cepezed for architecture and interior design, IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs for construction, Nelissen Ingenieursbureau for building services, DGMR for building physics and sustainability and Theateradvies for all auditorium and conference facilities.
