Iga graduated from the TU Delft with a specialisation in public and complex issues. During her studies, she gained practical experience on the Hourglass project in Amsterdam and the Zalmhaventoren in Rotterdam. She then worked for almost six years at a firm that combines architecture, project development, and consultancy. Here, she was involved in the entire design process – from the initial concepts to the execution on site.
What appeals to Iga about cepezed is the innovative and circular approach to architecture. “The idea that you can dismantle a building and reuse its components really resonates with me. This way, we’re not only building for today but also for the future,” says Iga. Research projects such as the reuse of wind turbine blades, as seen in the What if lab, show her how architecture can contribute to a more sustainable construction process.
One project that particularly appeals to Iga and on which she worked is the IJsselkogge
museum – a compact but complex project where the user experience is central. The Smart mobility hub in Amsterdam is another project in which Iga can express a lot of enthusiasm. She finds the sports roof with a lot of wood and the urban character very inspiring. She has a passion for both technology and art and strives to create architecture that is not only functional but also surprising, inspiring, and enduring.
Outside her work at cepezed, Iga draws much inspiration from art, both in writing and imagery. Art helps her to “look at the world differently. Sometimes the most beautiful solution is not found in a technical calculation, but in an unexpected idea that you pick up elsewhere.”
