Yesterday, cepezed received a visit from all participants of a design contest that was jointly organized with study association Stylos in mid-April. This on the occasion of the 25th Stylos lustrum and the addition of a new building to the cepezed complex between the Ezelsveldlaan and Nieuwelaan in Delft.
The new construction along the Nieuwelaan is intended for various tenants in the creative industry and is a modern addition to the historic former Technical University labs on the cepezed site. The development, design and realization are in the hands of cepezed itself. In keeping with the tradition of the office, the building has a modular design and is created with industrially prefabricated components that are dryly assembled on site. This also enables an easy demounting in the future and renders the parts easily reusable or recyclable. Because the building is the fourth on the cepezed site and, as said, demountable, it carries the name ‘Bouwdeel D(emontabel)’ (Building D(emountable)).
The design contest requires the participants to reinterpret the design and aim at an even higher degree of circularity. In doing so, they should mainly focus on the façade. First the participants attended an inspiration workshop at the cepezed office on May 7th, which included circular cepezed examples such as the Temporary Courthouse in Amsterdam, The Green House in Utrecht and of course Building D(emountable) itself. Following the workshop, they also visited construction site. The participants will exhibit their reinterpretations during a networking drink at cepezed on June 20th.
