four nominations for local awards

4 prijzen

We are quite proud: four recent projects are in the running for an architecture award. Although the assignments vary greatly – a villa, a school, a care centre for prisoners and an emergency response centre – the solutions are clearly ‘cepezed’. The nominations demonstrate once again that an award-worthy result is the product of teamwork.

villa & school
This week we will hear whether the Villa in Meijendel and/or the Van Maerlantlyceum in Eindhoven will win an award. The villa is a special project for us, because it is where all the innovation of the past fifty years comes together. The construction is demountable, the prefabricated elements are of high quality, the technology is sustainable, and the construction was partially contracted out. At the Van Maerlantlyceum, we showed what you gain by demolishing as little as possible: a familiar image, less environmental damage and, thanks to precision interventions, a stimulating interior. The Villa te Meijendel is in the running for the Rijnlandse Architectuurprijs, the Van Maerlantlyceum for the Dirk Roosenburgprijs.

pi healthcare institution & 112 emergency response centre
In November, the winners of the Apeldoorn Architecture Prize and the Hague Berlage Flag will be announced. With the design for the emergency response centre, we created a calm interior for a 24/7 working environment, despite the many technical installations required for such a centre, in a robust shell of corten steel. The PI Haaglanden care centre is a successful pilot for low-nitrogen construction and an example of the “humane detention” advocated by the Dienst Justitiele Instellingen. Large windows without bars offer a view of the garden's dune vegetation, and a lot of wood has been used in the building, even for the construction.

We would like to thank all our partners for the fine, distinctive results!
