temporary court of amsterdam example for steel construction agreement

Nieuws 2019 09 30 tijdelijke rechtbank cepezed

The Temporary Court of Amsterdam was presented during the kickoff event for a Steel Construction Agreement as an example of sustainable steel use yesterday. The building consists largely of steel and is fully detached and therefore circular due to the modular design. The dismantling will start soon and at the beginning of 2022 the building will have a new function in Enschede. An online event will reflect on this unique milestone on the 9th of November.

steel construction agreement: climate neutral construction with steel
The entire steel construction sector met on Thursday afternoon the 30th of September in IJmuiden at Tata Steel for the kick-off meeting on the future of climate neutral construction with steel. Under the leadership of Jacqueline Cramer, known as a former Minister (VROM) and now working as professor of sustainable innovation and senior advisor sustainability at Utrecht University, a Steel Construction Agreement is due in the autumn of 2022.
The aim is that the entire steel construction chain (from client and designer to steel producer and dismantling and recycling company) sets common goals for making building with steel more sustainable. 'The Steel Construction Agreement will also states what the steel construction chain in our country will do to reduce the construction-related emission of CO2 and other harmful substances. Among other things, by limiting the use of primary raw materials, but also by promoting circular construction through even more intensive reuse and recycling of steel', says initiator Bouwen met Staal.

intrinsic durable design
In view of the ambitions of the Steel Construction Agreement, the Temporary District Court of Amsterdam is an excellent example of sustainable steel use. 'As cepezed, we are involved in the very first phase of projects. By designing and developing buildings that are intrinsically sustainable, CO2 emissions can be reduced. In our opinion, these are flexible and remountable buildings, such as the Temporary Court of Amsterdam, with a high adaptive capacity and efficient use of materials. Buildings that, together with the environment, have the ability to adapt to the often unpredictable social developments and thus never become 'waste',' said Menno Rubbens, director of cepezedprojects (the development department of architectural firm cepezed) during the kick off meeting of the Steel Construction Agreement.

9th of November: 'Circular and remountable building in practice'
The Temporary District Court of Amsterdam was designed as a temporary shelter for the judiciary during the large-scale renovation of the Court in Amsterdam. In accordance with the requirement and the contract, the building will now be completely dismantled after five years. At Kennispark Twente in Enschede, the building will be reassembled early next year. This moment will be celebrated on the 9th of November. Instead of 'the first pile', cepezed organizes together with cepezedprojects, du Prie (construction & development) and Lagemaat (circular disassembly) an event about 'loosening the first nut'. The broadcast starts at 16:00 and will last until 17:30 at the latest. Jort Kelder is hosting the event. Attending this online event 'Circular and remountable building in practice' is free of charge and accessible to everyone. More information about the program will follow soon.
