Recently, cepezed hosted the Goood Woood theme event of Booosting, platform for leaders in building innovation. Circular construction with wood was the main topic during the well-visited afternoon. The newly completed Building D(emountable) on cepezed’s own premises was one of the cases studies. This circular prototype reflects cepezed’s way of designing and building and could also be visited by the participants.

Antwan van Haaren, partner of DGMR and Booosting board member, kicked off his first Booosting event as chair and relates: “The amount of people visiting Goood Woood shows that building with wood is really in the spotlights at the moment. It was a very informative afternoon with substantive presentations and healthy discussions; about demountable construction and about building with wood, both within ‘kits of parts’ and ‘iconic projects’. The attendees widely agreed that the sustainability of wood as a construction material is undervalued. This because the CO2 that wood absorbs, is not included in calculations. One of the conclusions was that we must continue to think about the most sustainable and obvious solutions per project. They don’t have to be entirely made of wood in every situation. All sorts of hybrid solutions are certainly possible. The current market offers sufficient products to make the best choice for each project. Construction is currently a major source of CO2-emissions in The Netherlands, but there is certainly hope that we can still become ‘the best boy in class’. Let’s be aware of this and act accordingly!”
