start building taste, texture & health

DSM 1nov2023 1

For dsm-firmenich in Delft, we designed a new head office with application laboratories. It will be an extremely sustainable building, focusing on display, testing and trials. Construction started on 1 November.

The Business unit Taste, Texture & Health, as its official name is, is one of the first buildings on dsm-firmenich's Biotech Campus Delft. A business unit is emphatically not a factory, but intended to develop innovative food applications. This innovation focuses on sustainability and health, which is reflected in the building. For instance, the staircases are invitingly situated and form a pleasant place an sich. In addition, the building is energy-efficient - aiming for the highest sustainability standard in the design.

At Taste, Texture & Health, products are tested and knowledge is exchanged. The building will have open office spaces and state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully equipped cooking studio, a tasting room, a cheese dairy, a bakery and a brewery. From summer 2025, Taste, Texture & Health will house some 500 employees of dsm-firmenich.

Director Patrick Niels rejoiced: 'Building on more than 150 years of successful food innovation, our new state-of-the-art facility will be a vibrant place where passion and expertise come together. An inspiring place to work, together with our customers, partners, knowledge institutions and talented scientists,' he said following the start of construction. Marja van Bijsterveldt, mayor of Delft, remarked on that occasion that Taste, Texture & Health combines the entire chain of business, research, development, application and production, making it 'a great example for other places in the Netherlands'.

ASR Dutch Science Park Fund will become the owner of the building and also the cooperation partner for the further development of the campus of dsm-firmenich
