construction new control room east netherlands will commence shortly!

Meldkamer parkeerzijde

Construction of the cepezed-designed new 112 control room in Apeldoorn will start soon. Friso Bouw from Sneek has been selected as a contractor and will initiate the foundation works next month.

The new control room for all emergency services will be one of the largest in the Netherlands, servicing an area of five security regions. The building will unite three existing control rooms, which are now scattered over over Apeldoorn, Hengelo and Arnhem.

The design consists of two volumes stacked perpendicular to each other. The top one is completely transparent at the ends, which gives the impression of a lookout from which the control room watches over the region. Otherwise, the building incorporates a lot of transparency as well, so that it receives ample daylight and enjoys beautiful views over the surrounding Van Gelder Park.

Both the control room itself and the offices can be freely arranged and there is a spacious atrium directly at the entrance. The corten steel facades have a warm appearance that blends well with the green environment.

Much attention has been paid to a pleasant, healthy living environment, as well as to sustainability, which among other things is achieved by means of minimal use of materials, that are durable moreover. The building is also Nearly Energy Neutral (BENG).

Construction is scheduled to be completed in May 2022. After that, all ICT and telephony facilities will be installed, while the operators will receive training for working in their new location. The new control room will be fully operational by the end of 2022.
