fugro wins breeam people's choice award

IMG 0712

Last Wednesday, the BREEAM Awards 2024 were presented in London. With a high BREEAM score of 93.44 per cent, we already knew that the New Fugro HQ was hugely sustainable. Being awarded the People's Choice Award underlines the importance of an ambitious client.

leading
BRE has announced the winners of the BREEAM Awards 2024. Fugro New HQ won the People's Choice Award. This new headquarters is currently being built in Nootdorp, to a design by cepezed. BRE stands for Building Research Establishment and is best known for the international BREEAM standard to improve sustainability. The annual awards are therefore intended for projects and organisations that lead the field in the sustainable design, development and management of buildings.

breeam outstanding

Sustainability was the focus of both client Fugro and cepezed from the outset. It was precisely this commitment that was praised by the jury. Geo-data specialist Fugro even contributed to the design on the basis of its own specialism. Among other things, this resulted in an innovative rainwater management system. Partly due to the biodiversity garden and the emphasis on the health of the employees, the design was awarded BREEAM Outstanding certification. In addition, the detachable construction and efficient use of materials ensure a small footprint.

campus
‘Sustainability is in the DNA of our company,’ says Michiel Dessens, Project Director at Fugro. ‘So it was not a question of whether the new headquarters would be sustainable, it was the starting point from the start.’ Architect Peter van den Heuvel knew how to deal with this, as sustainability is also paramount at cepezed. ‘We designed the new headquarters as a campus,’ he concludes.

For the design of Fugro's head office, we are working together with cepezedinterieur, Bosch Slabbers landschapsarchitecten, Van Rossum Raadgevende Ingenieurs (construction), Cauberg Huygen (building physics), RoyalHaskoning DHV (sustainability), Deerns (installation engineering), 4Building (process management) and Fugro. Vijverborg consultants and designers, Den Doorn total installers, EWB circular rain and MMEK design for experience are also assisting the team.
