cepezed designs international school almere

ISA birdview

Cepezed

cepezed and Van Norel Bouwgroep are going to create the new International School Almere (ISA) together. The partnership won the Design & Build tender issued by the municipality of Almere. The new school complex will be located in the green surroundings of the Annapark and will house both the International Primary School for primary education and the International School for secondary education. Children from four to nineteen years old will be able to go there.

growing demand
The ISA will meet the growing need for international education and at the same time strengthen the attractiveness of Almere as a location for international companies and employees. After all, good education is an important condition for expats when choosing a place to live. The design is suitable for 700 students, but anticipates expansion and a total capacity of up to 1000 students. The International School Almere is a project of the Urbanization Fund of the Municipality of Almere and the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (MRA). The school umbrella organizations De Almeerse Scholen Groep and Het Baken will provide the education.
campus design
The International School Almere will be more than 7,300 m2 in size. It will be a light and modern building, fully suitable for a wide variety of nationalities, cultures, ages and educational levels. The project is realized from a campus idea. In a playful design of three linked building blocks, it forms a recognizable unity, but with different zones both inside and outside. The various age groups each have their own learning environment that remains clear and small-scale. The central part forms the living heart of the complex, aimed at meeting and a wide range of communal activities, for which it will be equipped with corresponding facilities. The outdoor space consists of a succession of smaller, interwoven landscape spaces, each with its own atmosphere and function.

spring 2023
cepezed and Van Norel are currently working on the further elaboration of their submitted sketch design. Construction is expected to start in the autumn of 2021. The intention is that the students and teachers will be able to move into the building in the spring of 2023.
