The greatest challenge
How do you make sure that a building with an endless series of uniform offices and laboratories is still stimulating and spatially interesting? We opted for a ground plan in which four elongated strips form two unequal, compound crosses. Three of the arms of the crosses are linked together at or near their ends, so that together they enclose a triangular atrium. The building seems to stretch out inquisitively in all directions. Both the corridors and the laboratories look out on the outside world.
