Within the context of the reorganisation of the Dutch National Police the organisation realised the three new Police Services Centers (Politiedienstencentra in Dutch, and PDC in short) in Eindhoven, Zwolle and Rotterdam in 2017; each designed by cepezedinterior. All of the new PDC’s are housed in existing office buildings which have been, with the interior-fit designed by cepezedinterior, transformed into modern, pleasant and representative work environments for the above named services.
After PDC Eindhoven and Zwolle, Rotterdam is the third facility center in which parts of the support services of the Dutch Police are concentrated at one central location. These support services include amongst others facility management, HRM, finance and communications. The PDC Rotterdam is located in office building New Tide and consists of seven floors around a central atrium. Likewise to the other two locations, the layout is based on the New Way of Working with a wide variety of work and meeting places. Strongly zoned, the floors are further designed with a gradual chance from noisy segments with routing to quite spots for concentrated type of works. A good orientation and distinctive identities for the various services arise from material use, colour schemes and graphics as printed screens. While maintaining the constructive and spatial structure that was present in the building, the design focused on efficient, purposeful, flexible and durable operations that made the existing office comfortable and representative to the National Police. Appropriate for the police organization, the design is functional and discreet in terms of looks and identity.
