State Office De Knoop won the people’s choice award in the ‘Governmental Interior of the Year’ category during the FRAME Awards 2020! In close collaboration with cepezed, the interior was designed by Fokkema & Partners. They also submitted the project and were honored to receive the prestigious international prize during the award ceremony in Amsterdam last Thursday.
The winning project concerns the transformation of the former Knoop military station into a modern office and meeting center for government officials. In 2015, the Dutch government granted the DBFMO project to R Creators, a partnership between Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Facilicom. cepezed, Fokkema & Partners and Rijnboutt were responsible for the integral design of architecture, interior design and urban design.
The team has transformed the previously closed military complex into a transparent, light, healthy and at the same time robust and contemporary office building in which it is pleasant to work, meet and connect. The interior design is timeless, efficient and sustainable and is aimed at a modern and representative atmosphere for the organization.
Fokkema & Partners about the recognition: “Winning the FRAME Award for a state office interior feels like an amazing tribute to the way the complexities of the brief were translated to answer to all stakeholders while making a self-evident and appealing design. A design that optimally supports and inspires the people working at ‘De Knoop’ and at the same time appeals to our colleagues and the design-loving audience of FRAME.”
