Today, The key transfer of the new, cepezed-designed Westland City Hall took place. Alderman Bram Meijer received the key from director Piet van der Hoeven of the Groene Schakel consortium that developed and constructed the project and that is composed of the Volker Wessels companies Boele & Van Eesteren, HOMIJ Technical Installations and the PCH Sevices Group as well as the local Westland firms Priva, Schwagermann and Elektravon.
The coming months, the municipality will run test with regard to the ICT-facilities as well as the organisation and service processes. Starting August 28, citizens that need a passport, driver's licence or other products or services can come to the town hall at the Verdilaan in Naaldwijk. The Westland staff is situated in the brand new office building at the Laan van de Glazen Stad from then on. Both locations will officially be opened in September, when there will also be two open days for the general public.
Alderman Meijer is satisfied. "The construction of both buildings took some 13 months. All parties involved worked very hard to have the key transfer take place on July 3, according to schedule. It is a fine achievement they succeeded."
