State office De Knoop is one out of ten nominees for the Healthy Urban Office Challenge. The competition, organized by the Economic Board Utrecht (EBU), shows the most inspiring projects on the way to green, healthy and smart offices. In the run-up to the final, 32 projects have been registered, ten projects are nominated for the final next Wednesday May 24. In addition to prize money, the winner may name itself the most inspirational project with regard to green, healthy and smart offices.
The state office is a transformation of the former headquarters of the Royal Army to a combined office and meeting center for the government. cepezed takes care of the architectural design, commissioned by the R Creators consortium including Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Facilicom. Next to the state office a publicly accessible circular pavilion is realized. The pavilion, with a restaurant on the ground floor, is made up of light materials, including a wooden instead of concrete floor, which eliminates the need for a pile foundation. The glass facade of the former headquarters will be reused in the pavilion.
