The TextileMuseum Tilburg won the Dutch Museum Award 2017. It was chosen as Museum of the Year and will receive 100.000 euro. As one of three nominated museums it won the popular vote over Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Stedelijk Museum in Den Bosch.
The TextileMuseum was enlarged and renovated in 2007 by design of cepezed. The museum exhibits art, fashion and design, but also produces it. Especially that aspect is what makes it so unique. Visitors can attend the TextileLab workshops and experience the production process of textiles up close. The public weaving loom which the museum wants to purchase of the prize money fits the bill perfectly, says director Errol van de Werdt: “You enter the museum as visitor and exit as a maker”
