The City of Maastricht has awarded the engineering services for the modernization and expansion of the fair- and conference centre MECC Maastricht to cepezed. MECC (Maastricht Exposition & Congres Centre) is one of the most important fair- and conference centres in the Netherlands. The allotment finalized the European tender procedure which was targeted to appoint one design team to be responsible for the architectural and interior design as well as the M&E engineering, structural engineering, fire safety, sustainability, building physics and acoustics. The team exists of cepezed for architecture and interior design, IMd for structural engineering, Nelissen for M&E, DGMR for building physics and sustainability and Theateradvies for theater techniques. In the coming months the design vision will be elaborated into the preliminary and final design. The following stage is reserved for design documentation and the invitation to tender for the actual building construction. The Council of Maastricht will be involved in that process. The upgrading of the parking lots P3 & P4 will start mid-2017. The construction of the other parts will be executed in phases up to 2020.
