The Audax Textile Museum in Tilburg has been nominated Building of the Year 2009 by the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects. The jury considers the building, which has been renovated and expanded with archives and a new entrance building, a crystal clear answer to the question how to change the stuffy image of an innovative textile museum. The adjudicators deem the way the new construction has been embedded in the historical situation as exemplary. They also have high esteem for the beautiful use of materials and the careful detailing of the modern new museum entrance. The interventions have made the museum count as an innovative and creative company and knowledge centre both within the Dutch design community and abroad, says the jury.
